What Is Whisper Web?

Whisper Web is a free, browser-based speech recognition tool that converts audio into accurate text transcriptions — entirely on your device, without uploading anything to a server. It is powered by OpenAI's Whisper model, one of the most accurate open-source speech recognition systems available. We built it to make this technology accessible to everyone, without requiring technical setup, subscriptions, or accounts.

Why We Built It

Most speech-to-text tools fall into one of two categories: cloud services that are accurate but expensive and privacy-concerning, or simple dictation tools that struggle with accents, technical content, and non-English languages. Whisper Web takes a different approach — running the Whisper model directly in your browser using WebAssembly and WebGPU. Professional-grade accuracy with complete privacy. The model runs on your hardware. Your audio never leaves your device.
